At a recent Wellington, FL Rotary Luncheon the speaker was Nancy Stellway, Executive Director of Take Stock In Children of Palm Beach County. Ms. Stellway provided a presentation about how Take Stock In Children was established in 1995 as a non-profit organization that provides mentoring to low-income and at-risk students, many from minority families, to escape the cycle of poverty through education. Their goal is to reduce the number of high school drop-outs and to increase the number of students who attend and complete their college education.
Having served as a mentor with Take Stock In Children for five years, Daniel Herbert spoke of his experiences as a mentor and matched a $2000.00 donation make by a local physician that will fully fund a scholarship for a Take Stock In Children student.
